Dr. King's Death

Dr. King has been assassinated outside on a balcony of the Lorraine Motel, in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. King was in Tennessee to support some African American sanitation workers, who were on strike. The night before his death King delivered his final speech, which is known as the “I Have Been To The Mountain Top Speech.” The next day he was set to meet with the sanitation workers again along with Rev. Jesse Jackson. Dr. King, and Jesse Jackson both were on their way to the meeting with the on strike workers. While standing on the balcony of the motel Dr. King was shot down. James Earl Ray was the man who was charged with the murder of Dr. King. Ray died at the age of 70 in prison while serving a 99-year prison sentence. Dr. King will be remembered as the “Leader Of The Civil Rights Movement.”
